Nursery Department Lead Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Nursery Department Lead at Paradise Acres Garden Center.
This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of horticulture, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
As the Nursery Department Lead, you will oversee the outdoor area, lead a team, and contribute to the overall success of our garden center.
Responsibilities:
Plant Expertise:
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of various plants, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and perennials.
Provide expert advice on plant selection, care, and maintenance to customers and staff.
Identify and address plant diseases, pests, and other issues.
Inventory Management:
Oversee the procurement, stocking, and organization of the garden center's plant inventory.
Implement inventory control measures to optimize stock levels and ensure a diverse and healthy selection of plants.
Monitor and maintain accurate records of plant shipments, sales, and returns.
Customer Service:
Assist customers in selecting the right plants, offering guidance on care and maintenance.
Address customer inquiries and concerns to ensure a positive shopping experience.
Conduct educational workshops and demonstrations to promote plant knowledge and gardening skills.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and train garden center staff on plant care, customer service, and sales techniques.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Coordinate staff to ensure adequate coverage during peak times.
Maintenance and Presentation:
Ensure the garden center's outdoor area is well-maintained, clean, and visually appealing.
Implement merchandising strategies to highlight featured plants and seasonal offerings.
Oversee the regular watering, pruning, and care of plants on display.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to industry regulations and safety standards.
Implement and enforce proper handling and disposal procedures for fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals.
Conduct regular safety training for staff.
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of horticulture, plant species, and gardening practices.
Proven experience in garden center leadership or a related field.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Detail-oriented with good organizational and multitasking skills.
Adaptable to rapid changes in a fast-paced work environment.
Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Knowledge of inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
